I got an e-mail today from Mark Shuttleworth of ubuntu fame saying his girlfriend (like my wife) had gone in for Sudoku which had led him to GNOME-Sudoku which he called "nice and polished" and asking me to maintain it for inclusion in breezy. I'm not sure, but I think that might make me a Master of The Universe, which is a pretty sexy title for a maintainer.
Anyway, these may be some signs of my deep decline into geekdom:
- On getting the e-mail, I told my wife about it, because I consider correspondence from Mark "news".
- K knew what I was talking about (no, she is not a geek herself and thus has no independent reason to know who Mark is).
- I see a chance to upload a set of files to yet another fileserver as an "opportunity".
A final note: is there some reason S.O.'s of computer-geeks like Sudoku? Or is it just that everybody likes sudoku...
In other news, it looks like my gig as a professional programmer may come through — I'm just waiting for the paperwork to get straightened out (my god is the contract verbose — something seems strange when there's more legalese involved in writing code for someone than there ever was in teaching people's children).
